Wisdom in the Wild: A Nature Art Retreat for Life After Loss

20th - 25th October 2024

Embrace the timelessness of the wild and the creativity of art to heal and grow after loss.* This retreat offers a unique blend of nature walks, art workshops, and reflective exercises, all set in a peaceful, natural environment.  See desciption of loss below.

“Wisdom in the Wild” is designed for individuals ready to immerse themselves in new artistic practices within a small warm and supportive community. There will be opportunities for both solitude and togetherness, fostering growth and creativity. This retreat aims to guide participants forward in their "one precious life," as poetically described by Mary Oliver.

Set against the stunning backdrop of a southern Spanish mountain landscape, this four day retreat brings together a  group of six international participants.

Connecting with Nature and Self.

With early morning macro photography in nature, participants will connect with awe and unlock new levels of curiosity and delight, forging deeper awareness of and connection to 'the wild.'

Visionary William Blake challenges us  -“To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold Infinity in the palm of your hand and Eternity in an hour.” Blake's words inspire us to find resilience in overcoming life’s challenges. By perceiving the world with a sense of wonder and seeing beauty especially in the smallest things, we can tap into a deeper understanding of existence.

A Supportive Artistic Community.

About Meg Robinson.

Meg Robinson is a versatile artist, writer, and educator of Irish, Dutch, and Lithuanian ancestry. After decades of searching, she recently found her Eastern European birth family. Overcoming a decade-long chronic illness in 1996, she closed her independent painting school in Aberdeen and began a five-year odyssey as a nomadic artist, exploring the wildernesses of Alaska, Patagonia, Peru, and Bolivia.

In 2014, Meg demonstrated remarkable resilience by healing from stage 4 cancer. Despite enduring numerous personal losses, she channeled her experiences into creating a retreat center in the Contraviesa mountains, where she led art-based healing retreats for fourteen years.

With extensive experience in guiding transformative art retreats, Meg is deeply committed to supporting others on their healing journeys. Her art and retreats reflect a deep understanding of the therapeutic power of creativity, making her uniquely equipped to assist others in their personal healing processes. What will it involve?

Drawing in Wisdom” is not merely a retreat; it is a sanctuary where art, beauty, playfulness and the Divine* converge. Under the gentle guidance of artist Meg Robinson and her experienced dedicated team, you will engage in practices that nurture the soul and rekindle the joy of being.

Experience the enchanting process of paper embossing with plants.
Crafting letters and poems on leaves and bark.
Cyanotype printing,
Riverside stone and tree drawing.
The mindful exploration of forest foraging walks, and the revelations of close up photography at dawn with phone cameras.
Under a star-filled sky, a storyteller will weave ancient tales of Spain and distant lands beyond, enchanting everybody with rich legends accompanied by a variety of Indian  musical instruments.

These activities help us reconnect with the wonder and awe that life offers in its quietest moments.

Your stay includes charming accommodations and organic, seasonal meals that nourish the body and the spirit. The retreat includes picnics, swimming, and stargazing by a saltwater pool. These experiences are crafted to deepen your spiritual connection, foster trust in your instincts, and unlock your most innovative and expressive self.

'Humanity is now too clever to survive without wisdom.'
“Art is the highest form of hope.” - Gerhard Richter.

‘In this space, you will find a reconnection to your body’s wisdom, to nature’s signs, signals and messengers, and the gentle whisper of your soul.
