After their winter, and before ours..

Very excited.
My partner in Peru, Wider, who took this photo, is about to return to the high mountains with the news we have money to buy animals for the families in the area we are committed to help. Due to a devastatingly severe winter they lost most of their sheep, goats, chickens, and guinea pigs.
Wider will hike for three days to reach the families, then return to Ollantaytambo with some of the men to buy the animals. The rainy season is about to start. It will be a hard journey. Wider grew up on the street of his village. With huge respect for his ancestors, he is committed to helping his indigenous brothers and sisters, as he calls them, preserve their ancient way of life.
I am privileged to help him do this by sending money I earn from selling my paintings and running retreats.
For the second time, a Danish artist Heidrun Sorenson has generously donated money as well.

Adios Bolivia

After a week back home in Spain, a part of me still hasn't arrived. It's such a strange feeling. A cross between yearning and pining and grief. A part of me was reluctant, not ready to leave Bolivia - that part is still there. And another part of me would like to get on the next plane and start all over again. Eyes wide open. More savvy. More alert. The ache is almost physical. A monastery near Pisac Peru. Easter Sunday at the monastery. Easter flowers candles and bread. Leaving small gifts and big smiles. Stop-Expecting-Too-Much-from-People, Mrs!

At the end of a radio interview when  69 year old , Jewish, Hungarian born Canadian physician  Gabor Mate was asked ‘ is there more love in your life now?’  he paused. ‘I think there is more space in my heart for love,’  he said quietly.  I think  there is more space in our hearts for love when we pass 60. What we do with that space depends on lots of things. And sometimes that space shuts down ! This morning I was deeply disappointed with our village doctor, again. My heart door slammed shut. There seems to be  a Berlin Wall  wall between us. I cannot communicate with him without judging him, severely.   He speaks to me like I'm a teenager with many serious learning challenges. I see in front of me an  arrogant adolescent with mother issues!  LOL !! I thought I'd stopped judging people !!
